GET SCHOOL READY BUNDLE
Age Range: 3 - 8 years
School Readiness Kit - Animal Learning Styles - 20 Minutes- Every child learns in a different way and all children have different needs in the classroom. We want to educate children about being whole body learners so that they become aware of their own learning styles and what helps them focus! In the classroom, whole body listening has been encouraged extensively over time - however, with new research and based on lived experiences, we now know that this is not a ‘one size fits all’ for learning and there are many styles, all equally valid and important!
School Readiness Kit - Strength Bracelet - 30 Minutes
- During this activity we will be familiarising your child with the letters in their name and a positive attribute of their own. By acknowledging their personal qualities, this will improve their self-concept and self-efficacy, so they can feel empowered in their learning. They will use the letter beads provided to copy their attribute and thread their bracelet, creating an affirming item that reminds them of a strength.
School Readiness Kit - Communication Cards - 30 Minutes
- We focus on developing your child’s ability to self advocate and access help in class if they need. This can be extremely challenging for children who may not have the confidence to approach their teachers, or articulate what they are wanting support with. By creating communication cards, we will encourage them to understand their needs and how they can have their needs met with the help of the teachers at school.
School Readiness Kit - Morning Routine Dice - 40 Minutes
- Having a smooth, autonomous and regulated morning routine will largely impact your child’s regulation for the rest of the day. When children are feeling more regulated, they will be more resilient and more successful throughout the busy school day. If your child does not yet have the adequate skills to complete the morning routine it can become a stressful start to the day and set them up for an emotionally challenging school day. Our goal in the school readiness kit is to assist with skill building for organisation and regulation in a fun, interactive way. This is why a dice, with sides representing some morning routine tasks is created, to playfully practise these skills outside of the morning hours so that they can feel prepared and ready to try these tasks when the time comes.
Finger & Hand Strength - Putty Challenges - 20 mins
-
We introduce different hand and finger exercises that improve coordination and awareness of hand movement, and can also be used as short warm ups prior to tasks like handwriting or scissor use. The putty is also introduced to provide some resistance to pinch, squeeze and twist while looking for gems. This treasure hunt game is a fun way to work on something challenging like building up finger and hand endurance, especially for those kids who notice fatigue in their hands after writing.
Finger & Hand Strength - Popstick Puzzle - 20 mins
-
Visual perception is a skill that is very closely connected to finger and hand skills, particularly hand eye coordination and achieving control and accuracy. This puzzle creation activity involves the finger skills of peeling and sticking the stickers to make the puzzle, then recruiting the visual perceptual skills to then build the puzzle. The puzzles can start easy and be graded up to more difficult, depending on your child’s ability. This is a great way for kids to find their ‘just right challenge’, where a task is hard enough for skill building but also achievable.
Finger & Hand Strength - Flower Vase - 30 mins
-
Fine motor skills don’t always have to be completed at a table, since we use them in all aspects of life, from getting dressed, brushing our teeth, playing and exploring the world. In the flower vase activity, your children will use their scissor skills to prepare the vase before adventuring in the backyard or park to collect flowers for their vase. Activities in nature can be very regulating, particularly in collaboration with a trusted and regulated adult. To further support your child with scissor skills, consider ordering the Get School Ready Bundle, which includes more information about Scissor Skill Development.
Finger & Hand Strength - Balloon Popper - 30 mins
-
Fidgets, poppers and squishy toys are highly popular and also effective to support focus, participation and regulation. When they are created and personalised by the child, they become even more meaningful. The balloon popper activity uses simple craft materials to develop finger skills and coordination, while squeezing the balloon also supports hand and grip strength.
Handwriting Booklet
- No Time Frame. Completion time depends on you and your child’s individual abilities - there is no need to finish the book in one go, small bursts of practice over a longer period of time is more achievable, enjoyable and builds skills for the long term - so take your time!

Scissor Skills Kit - Paper Chain, Jellyfish & Spiral Snake
- This kit has been designed to help children develop their scissor skills, providing strategies for parents who are supporting children that may be having difficulty. You may notice your child having difficulty with scissors if they are trying to use them with two hands, hold them upside down, turn their hand to cut and follow lines, are ripping the paper or fatiguing in their arms or hands. It might also be quite frustrating for them if they have difficulty.Scissor Challenge -
