Using scissors is an essential skill for school and also the broader development of fine motor skills, hand dominance, and grip strength. Using scissors provides children a way to create and design their own pieces of art, from box forts and race tracks, to houses and decorations. Maybe your child loves insects and gardening, they might use garden snips to prune the trees and make homes for their little insect friends. Our simple scissor challenges help children develop the use of their helping hand for stability, accuracy with the scissors and confidence to try on their own.

SCISSOR SKILLS KIT
Age
3+ year olds
This kit has been designed to help children develop their scissor skills, providing strategies for parents who are supporting children that may be having difficulty. You may notice your child having difficulty with scissors if they are trying to use them with two hands, hold them upside down, turn their hand to cut and follow lines, are ripping the paper or fatiguing in their arms or hands. It might also be quite frustrating for them if they have difficulty.
