Developing a child’s wellbeing and positive sense of self is essential for their participation and joy. We know that some daily living skills are difficult to develop, perhaps due to motor skill challenges or the fact that they just aren’t interesting. We created The Wellbeing Kit to be themed with your child’s relationship with and love for their pets. Through this relationship, your child can meaningfully participate in tasks that care for their pet but also develop similar skills for their own personal lives too. Watch and follow our OTs as they guide you through different creative activities from painting a bandana, making a visual care routine to reflecting in their personal journal. A positive wellbeing includes a positive mindset, which is why Our Journal has activities that reflect on strengths, identifies affirmation and appreciates the joy a pet can bring to their life.

Small = Cats, Lizards, Chihuahuas, Guinea pigs etc.
Large = Luna (pictured), Labradors, Huskies etc.

    • Make a Bandana for your Pet! - 15 minutes

      • Using the paints and material provided, we help your child get creative, by designing a bandana or flag for their pet. Celebrating interests is extremely important for a person’s wellbeing, and if they love pets and animals, this kit is for them! We validate different ideas, skills and different ways of thinking, helping a child know they are valued in their world.

    • Design a Routine to Care for your Pet- 20 minutes

      • Using visuals and our posters, your children can autonomously pick which pet care tasks they would like to complete, setting a goal for themself, building their independence and enhancing their daily living skills. Motivation is highest when a child is autonomous, they have a sense of purpose and the tasks are joyful, so no need for reward charts when the activities themselves are the motivator!
