The Ultimate Skill Builder kit makes it easy to access all our valuable kits, offering insights, advocacy, support and guidance for building skills across all domains of life, from fine and gross motor skills, to regulation, sensory processing, school readiness and a positive wellbeing.

All our kits have a recommended starting age, however, they are accessible at all ages with more or less support provided by the parent, caregiver or even support workers!

Bundling the kits means that you can work on different goals at the same time. We know that children and families are often working towards goals in different skill areas so we wanted to provide an accessible option. For example, after developing fine motor skills in our science themed kit, you can then support your child’s school participation, completing the school readiness tasks which identify and advocate for their learning style and communication needs. If your child isn’t ready to work on fine motor skills using the science kit, start with the gross motor skills kit, which includes some fine motor skills for practice and progress towards other skills when they are ready.

Another benefit of the Ultimate Skill Builder kit is that parents get access to all the education videos, discussing the skills and providing tips, strategies and recommendations to assist in different areas e.g. how to simplify a task or work backwards to build skills or ways to help a child trust their body and emotional experience.

    - Some children will need more assistance for different kits and activities at different times. We want the activities to be a positive and collaborative experience, so it is important to know that participation is valid in ways and can look different for each child e.g. from completing the tasks on their own, to watching only, taking turns with the adults or providing the adult with the materials to complete. All of these opportunities are important for skill building so be mindful and proactively adapt activities when needed.

Kits - Approximately 8+  hours activity time

    • Fine Motor Skills Kit  - 1 hour

      • We have themed our fine motor skills kit with engaging and exciting science activities to make skill development fun and meaningful. Fine motor skills are an essential component of independent living, being able to write or type, use cutlery or a toothbrush, or even for dressing and meal preparation. Our OTs guide you through different experiments from eruptions, making lava and drag races,  providing a range of opportunities for your child to use their hands and fingers to open, pour, mix and manipulate different materials to enhance their fine motor skills while also engaging their imagination and creativity.

    • A Day at the Safari Gross Motor Skills Kit - 1 hour

      • Our gross motor skills kit is playful, relatable and active, engaging the kids purposefully, and using their familiarity and interest in animals to support them. Gross motor skills are important abilities that can help someone be independent in their life. Follow our OTs as they explain and coach your child through a range of movement based obstacle courses and challenges.. Help your children in organising their movements, through modelling and coaching or applying the modifications learnt from our occupational therapists.

    • School Readiness Kit - 2 hours

      • The school readiness kit uses craft activities while focusing on teaching children about whole body learning, validating differences and growth mindset. Follow our OTs as they guide you through learning styles, strengths based bracelet making, communication strategies and a playful morning routine, all while developing underlying motor and participation skills for school.

    • Handwriting Kit - no time frame

      • Emergent writing is learned through meaningful interactions. Just practising writing for the sake of it makes it harder for kids to understand the purpose of writing, which is why we have themed the handwriting workbooks with familiar and fun themes such as Minecraft or zoo animals. This workbook teaches letter formation and letter directions with helpful directional catch phrases to remember for future writing.

    • Emotional Inventory Kit  - 1 hour

      • Everyone has their own interoceptive and emotional experience which is correct and valid so our Emotional Inventory Kit explores this with your child in an affirming way. We want your children to be able to trust their body, trust their experience and know that what they are feeling matters. Our OTs guide you through a workbook exploring body clues and pairing them with emotion words that make sense for your child. You will identify different regulation tools to use depending on which body clues your child notices and the emotion they might be experiencing. Through the activities, you will gain valuable insights into your child’s ability to articulate their experiences and the support they need in recognising their body clues so they can respond adaptively.

    • Sensory Explorers - 2 hours

      • This kit uses science experiments, craft and sensory exploration to help your child learn about their sensory systems, so they can understand the sensations they notice in their body and which ones may be alerting, calming or comforting. If children have difficulty making sense of the input their body receives, it can make the world around them overwhelming or confusing. We want to help children become advocates for their needs, particularly if they experience the world in their own unique way. Follow our OTs as they guide you through a sensory treasure hunt, cloud dough creation, fidget cube construction and a melting snowman experiment, providing a range of opportunities to notice and discuss different sensory input while building essential fine motor skills.

    • The Pet Shop - Wellbeing Kit - 1 hour

      • Developing a child’s wellbeing and positive sense of self is essential for their participation and joy. We know that some daily living skills are difficult to develop, perhaps due to motor skill challenges or the fact that they just aren’t interesting. We created The Wellbeing Kit to be themed with your child’s relationship with and love for their pets. Through this relationship, your child can meaningfully participate in tasks that care for their pet but also develop similar skills for their own personal lives too. Watch and follow our OTs as they guide you through different creative activities from painting a bandana, making a visual care routine to reflecting in their personal journal. A positive wellbeing includes a positive mindset, which is why Our Journal has activities that reflect on strengths, identifies affirmation and appreciates the joy a pet can bring to their life.
